let's see...

Surrogates
Decent sci-fi movie, good concept but a bit too predictable although the ending twist is alright. Looked too much like A.I. or I-robot and the likes, Bruce willis played well though! Also to note, the movie only lasts 86 minutes, which is awfully short nowadays...6.5/10

The Prestige
Completely agree with Carlos, great movie! Keeps pulling you in, wondering what is going to happen next, full of intrigue and the ending is completely unexpected. Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and good old Michael Caine at their best, definitely recommend that one! 9/10

The fourth kind
Documentary-style alien abduction story based on real footage with Milla Jovovich. The movie starts with a warning "This is a dramatised version of real events. What you want to believe is up to you."
Despite Milla as lead rold and a plethora of fabulous second roles from very good, renowned actors, it was really over the top. Aliens abducting people in Alaska at 3.33am exactly? "Real footage" distorting when aliens pull over and creepy voices saying "I am god"...even if the facts are based on hypotetical true happenings, the movie was so overdone that it was impossible to get gripped into it. Really didn't do it for me :( 4/10

Alice in Wonderland.  Yes.  It totally sucked -_- It should have just been called "Wonderland" or "Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter! ... Oh, and Alice too".

As I just got back from visiting Lydi's parents (and therefore, Lydi's Dad's DVD library of over 700 DVDs), I figured I'd do a monster list! Spoiler'd for sanity.

Saw Alice in Wonderland when I was back in Columbus for my birthday/spring break.  It was... alright.  It was visually interesting, but it was missing something.  I'm not sure what exactly, but I'm not convinced I need to see it again to figure it out either.  It was just average I guess, nothing to rage over, but nothing to write glittering reviews about either.

I also saw Alice in Wonderland recently. Yet another film where the 3D element felt shoe-horned in just to be cool with the kids. The best thing about the entire film though was clearly Anne Hathaway - she managed to play the "bored of having to actually speak like a proper prim princess all the time" role quite well. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter annoyed me though. They need to make their affair public already and put Tim Burton out of his misery :(

On the subject of sub-par films, I also watched From Paris With Love yesterday, and oh-ho! What a train wreck! Terrible writing, shallow characters, dialogue straight out of a low-rate B-movie, and a plot as predictable as the rising sun. Would not recommend to anyone unless you like watching poo films.

The Box  - As much as I want to do the John Cusack thing again, I'd rather comment on how little sense the story made. It probably didn't help that I only gave the movie half my attention, but every time I looked back to it, something completely unrelated was happening to when I last glanced. It seemed like there were multiple writers, who all contributed something, but never spoke to each other at all, and all of their contrasting ideas simply got stuck together.

I couldn't agree more, watched this yesterday...even with my usual sci-fi nerd enthusiasm, I was unable to find this movie convincing at all :< they completely botched up what was an original concept...too confusing and leads nowhere...rubbish!

Saw Kick Ass last night, and it was awesome :D A helluva nice surprise, considering how rubbish the trailer made it look. Actually turned out to be laugh out loud funny on more times than I can remember, and the soundtrack fitted so well too. Fully recommend :3

Just got back from the cinema, where I saw How to Train Your Dragon, an enjoyable kids movie about vikings, dragons, and wimps. I really like this movie, and thought the 3D wasn't too in-your-face, but again, wasn't absolutely essential.

Toothless is clearly brilliant though, and is based on Stitch, from Lilo and!

Saw Kick-Ass, was greatly amused, returned to considering that whole losing enough weight to run around the city in spandex and a cape.

But no, really well done, although I can't compare to the source material because I'm a bad comic book fan, but quite frankly, I think it was the first time I saw Nic Cage in something that didn't result in me shaking my head in a long long time.  His Adam West as Batman impersonation as Big Daddy was really good.

Besides, tons of blood, violence, and swearing?  It's like my dream evening.

Surrogates. What a wasted idea on a rushed movie :( It had so much potential, but flew by at an alarming rate, and parts of it looked shockingly bad. Think mid-budget 80's movie, only released last year.

Would not watch again, or recommend to anyone either. Poor Bruce Willis :(

Saw Inception last night, and for opening night, it drew a very small crowd, which is unfortunate since it was an amazing movie.

I can only nit-pick a single moment in the movie near the end, but other than that, it's something everyone should see.

Ooh, I heard about Inception a while ago, forgot all about it until I saw the imdb link - cheers ShiiN! And lest ye forget, the night I went to see Iron Man 2, there were 3 other couples in the entire theatre, but that was an outstanding film :3

The last movie I watched was Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. It was on TV just now, and is still fun :)

Batman Beyond: The Return of the Joker on Friday, and Inception on Saturday.  We got there early to beat the crowd for the IMAX.

I just got back from Inception, and I am completely astounded at this amazing movie. The acting was top notch, the plot made you think the whole way through and by the end you were pulled into this amazing world. I will most likely even go back to see it again.

I went to see Predators last week with very low expectations since rarely is an extension of a character concept done well in Hollywood, but I left pleasantly surprised. Predators had quite a bit of action, quasi-interesting characters, great homages to the original Predator, and built beautifully on the class hierarchy that Predator and the Alien v.s. Predator series hinted at.

I'd definitely recommend seeing it; awards be damned, it's a fun experience.

I went to watch thsi a while ago because I went to the movies to watch Inception but all sessions were sold out D: It was fun to watch indeed!

The last movie I saw was Shutter Island, and it was quite the messed up movie, but very enjoyable overall. I'm just sad that I figured out exactly how it ends after a third of the movie ;_;

Re: Last movie watched?
I watched The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. Quite an interesting movie! Lily Cole looks like a doll, and the way they transitioned in different actors to play Heath Ledger's part was really nice (If you live under a rock, Heath Ledger died part way in the filming of this movie). It dragged on a bit at times, and it's little hard to get into if you aren't paying attention to what's happening, but overall I thought it was pretty great. Plus some parts were filmed in Vancouver, so that's always +1 (except Twilight) for me ;D

I dunno if stars are back up but 4/5 for me!

Re: Last movie watched?
I watched Piranha 3D yesterday, and I have to say, it was a terrific remake. I especially enjoyed Christopher Lloyd's role in the movie; it's nice to see him in films again.

Everyone knows Piranha 3D is a B-movie; not even the creators deny that, but it's one hell of an entertaining ride. It's made my top 10 list, and I might bump it into my top 5 favourite movies when the Blu-ray comes out.

Last movie watched?
Ok I watched a heckload of movies while in Sweden.
To start off, I watched Inception. Brilliant movie, really well done.
Before that, watched a couple swedish movies, that I can highly recommend if you're up for something good and different.

Män som hatar kvinnor (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)
- Very nice movie, based on Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy. Very action paced and stuff, looks like it was made by a big hollywood studio.

Kärlekshistoria (A Swedish Love Story)
- Old cool movie, a little love story with some swedish touches, gets really weird.

Tillsammans (Together)
- Cool story about people living in a hippie sort of place, really nice

Du Levande (You, the Living)
- A sequence to Songs of the Second Floor, really cool movie, it's about life in general divided into a series of skits

Fyra nyanser av brunt (Four Shades of Brown)
- Cool movie, four different stories entwined with some really surprising endings

I think I'm forgetting one, I'll have to remember it later if that's the case.
All of them worth a watch!

They are now! :sparkle:

I've watched over 50 films in the period I've been away and I'm sure no one wants to go through a massive list, so I'll start fresh by simply saying that the last film I watched was The Expendables, which... Wasn't bad, but far more underwhelming than I expected. The film surprisingly underutilized most of its cast and while the action scenes were great, I wound up wishing there were far more of them - it was great seeing Dolph Lundgren and Gary Daniels back in action though, and I hope they're able to secure Wesley Snipes for the sequel.
